Clearing Up False Rumors

It has been brought to my attention that there are some false rumors being circulated regarding the recent policy change about sending out Letters of Introduction.  It is true that the hall will not be sending out Letters of Introduction for members with classifications for which we have open calls until such time that all calls are filled.  We have a duty as Local 760 members to make sure that work within our jurisdiction is fully staffed.  When all work in our jurisdiction is fully staffed, we will gladly help out other Locals fill their calls.  This in no way prohibits anyone from signing traveler books at any other local within the IBEW.  No, we are NOT stopping members from working outside our jurisdiction.  Those wishing to work out of jurisdiction can still do so; they will be required to sign in person, as was the procedure prior to Covid.  No, we are NOT planning to recall members currently working outside our jurisdiction.  We can only ask those working outside of our jurisdiction to come home and fill our calls but we do not have any plans to make that a mandate, as always, that is the choice of every member.

When we are unable to fill the manpower needs of our contractors, we are opening the door for non-union contractors to increase their marketshare thus growing stronger by taking the work that union brothers and sisters should be doing.  In turn, this reduces our marketshare  which further reduces our ability to negotiate higher wages and a better lifestyle for our members and their families.
