To All IBEW Local 760 Members,
As many of you may be aware, we are making the final payment on the training center. As such, we need to make a by-laws change regarding the 1% assessment that was put in place several years ago to pay for the training center. Article X, Sec. 7(a) currently specifies this assessment to go into the “Building Fund”. The E-Board in their meeting on February 20, 2023 approved changing this to read “Facilities Account” instead of “Building Fund”. This new account will be an account under the General Fund. Also, the E-Board voted to change Article X Sec. 7 (a) (2), second paragraph that currently reads “Add (1%) one percent special assessment for acquiring a new training center and maintaining the center.” to read, “Members covered by Inside and Outside Construction Agreements and Data Communications Agreements add a (1%) one percent special assessment to create a Facilities Account to be used for the construction and maintenance of property owned by Local 760 or Local 760 Building Corporation.”
If approved, the membership will be asked to approve moving all remaining funds from the Building Fund to the newly established Facilities Account. These changes are necessary to allow for future funding of all building and maintenance needs of the Local Union.
This letter is to serve notice that the membership present will be voting on this by-laws change at the next scheduled General Membership meeting on April 24, 2023.
