Charles Eugene (Gene) Simcox met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 12, 2023. Charles was approaching his 97th birthday. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Mildred Marie Simcox, daughter Jo Ann Young, daughter-in-law Janet Simcox, sisters Naomi Hatmaker, Rose Goins, grandsons Kevin and Charley Simcox and a great grandson. Charles has been a devoted husband, father, and a Christian Spiritual example for his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Phyllis LaFollette whom he married on April 14, 2016. Phyllis brought tremendous comfort and joy in his remaining years. He leaves behind sons Harold (Patsy), Neil (Rosemary), and Clay Young; in addition to Janet Hundley, Robert Clay, Clint and Joe LaFollette. Charles was blessed with many grandchildren; Angie Rabey, Shawna Hibben, Clay Thomas, Brian, and Samuel Young, Julia Hundley, Rebecca Stafford, and Erica, Olivia, and Anna LaFollette. In addition to 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Charles was a faithful servant to his Lord and held many leadership positions at Oakwood Baptist church in Knoxville and Rockford Baptist Church in Rockford. He retired from Tennessee Associated Electrical Co. as VP after 44 years. He has been honored as a 75 year member and officer of the IBEW Local 760 Credit Union. He proudly served in the Army with the engineering company in Korea and recently was recognized for his dedication. Charles will be buried with military honors on Sunday April 16, 2023. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:30 at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home located at 220 W Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37801 with service immediately following. Graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery on Oak Grove Rd. Off exit 128 on I-75 in Lake City/Rocky Top, TN.
